RECORDS APPOINTMENT During the records appointment, a complete diagnostic study is completed to confirm the initial diagnosis and set a baseline for the course of treatment. Our office houses high tech, low dose digital imaging which will be used, as well as study models of your teeth and photos.
ORTHODONTIC APPOINTMENTS After the records appointment, it will be time to place braces or expanders, depending on your treatment needs. This appointment typically takes between a half hour to an hour. After appliances are placed, appointments take about a half hour and are spaced one–two months apart.

EMERGENCIES: Problems with braces or appliances that arise during orthodontic treatment can easily be handled at home or at an emergency visit to our office during normal business hours, Monday through Wednesday 8:00a to 5:00p or Thursday 8:00a to 12:00p. If you have an emergency, do not come directly to the office. Call the office to allow us to schedule an appointment so that you will be seen in a timely manner. Below, you will find a list of common problems and how to resolve them.
SORENESS FROM BRACES: The patient may take an over the counter pain reliever that would normally be used for a headache.
POKEY WIRES: Wax may be placed over the wire end or the wire may be clipped using a pair of nail clippers. Remember; dry off the area prior to placing the wax or the wax will not stick. Call the office to schedule an emergency appointment on a normal business day.
LOOSE BRACKET: If the bracket (or band) is attached to the wire, please leave it in place or move it over to the next attached bracket and then place wax over both brackets. The wax will stabilize the bracket and provide comfort. Remember; dry off the area prior to placing the wax or the wax will not stick. If the bracket is at the end of the wire and comes off, as long as it is not uncomfortable, leave it and call the office to schedule an appointment. If uncomfortable, please use the suggestion above to trim the wire. Call the office to schedule an emergency appointment on a normal business day.
LOST ELASTIC TIE OR CHAIN: Please call the office on a normal business day to see if an appointment is needed.
HEADGEAR OR RETAINER NOT FITTING OR LOST: Please call the office for an appointment on a normal business day.
CEMENTED APPLIANCE COMES LOOSE: Please call the office for an appointment on a normal business day.
PROBLEM WITH ACTIVATION (TURNING) OF EXPANDER: Stop turning and call the office for an appointment on a normal business day. If a removable bottom expander is rubbing or pinching please remove a turn or two to relieve the irritation and continue to wear. If still unable to wear the expander comfortably, discontinue wear until seen in the office.
If the emergency that you are experiencing cannot be resolved using the suggestions above, please call the office and listen to the recording for the current emergency number. Please do not use the emergency phone number for questions regarding your treatment, account or appointments.
